Winter in Burlington
As temperatures drop and snow begins to blanket the Green Mountains, the Northeast is transforming into a winter playground. While Friend Ship and Wild Rose rest in dry dock for the off-season, with all their winter maintenance complete, there’s no shortage of things to do in and around Burlington this Winter
One of the reasons we love Vermont is for the dramatic change of seasons. Our crew-member Eleanor coined the phrase ‘seasonal amnesia’ to describe how hard it is to imagine a frozen Lake Champlain as we sail her blue waters on a sunny day in August, or to picture sipping a cold beverage while wearing a swimsuit on Friend Ship’s foredeck when standing on Church Street admiring the holiday lights watching your breath upon exhale.
Winter invites us to slow down and embrace the ever-changing beauty of Vermont. And while we’re savoring all that this time of year has to offer, we are so looking forward to the thaw of spring and another incredible sailing season on the sparkling waters of Lake Champlain in 2025.
We hope this list of activities inspires you to get out and have fun this time of year.
