Friend Ship leaving the dock for test run.
Hi all,
It’s been awhile since I had time to write anything. We have been very busy at Whistling Man Schooner Co. getting ready for the start of the season. The Friend Ship was launched on May 9th, and we now have her at her dock at the Burlington Water Front next to the Echo Center. It’s been very rainy the past few weeks here in Vermont, so getting time to get the last minute chores done have been trying. But the sails are on, the rigging tunes and we are getting closer to our first opening day under new owner and captain.
Yesterday was our first chance to get the Friend Ship away from the dock under sail. With me being a new captain for the Friend Ship, plus I’m training new crew members, we are just spending time getting to know the boat. We will be down at the dock again today just taking her through the paces. Doing sailing drills to be sure captain and crew are well in tune to handle any situation that could arise while on the water. The great thing about sailing is no matter how often you sail, every time is different. Winds coming from a different direction, different strength, all gives you a new challenge to handle.
So our opening is on May 26th. and we are hoping for great weekend. We are getting more booking coming but still have room on the boat for all three tours. So if you want to join in on the fun and get some sailing in, go to the website and hit the reservation button and book your seat for one of the public two hour sails, or better yet get your friends and family together and plan a private sail. Just give me a call or send me an email and I can help plan a great day on the water for you and your group.
Fair winds,
Capt. Mike Crowley
